Glasses
Turns out Matthew is pretty much blind in one eye... He now has glasses and I don't think Dave & I are ready for the struggle. Matthew can be really stubborn with some things and it looks like wearing his glasses is going to be one of those things he fights. So, we'd love any suggestions on how to get him to tolerate his glasses more than 5 minutes at a time so he doesn't end up having to get a patch for lazy eye...

With my extensive parenting experience, I would say to lie to him and tell him that they are special sunglasses that block the sun AND fog. (He likes wearing his sunglasses, doesn't he?) Or! you could play a silly game of long-distance "I spy". Make him look at something in the distance w/o the glasses and hopefully he won't be able to see it. Then put the glasses on and he can suddenly "spy it" and he can keep whatever it is-like peas (his favorite treat!). Or, hold him down and duct tape them on.
My son had the same thing. It took him a little while for him to start wearing his glasses. Our doctor told us that it takes the eyes a little while for them to realize that they can see better with the glasses. The doctor told us that doing very visually intense things helps. Like using a Nintendo DS or something like that or doing puzzles or coloring so that they use the eye. My son was nearly blind in one eye, had coke bottle glasses and wore a patch for a year. It helped though and he doesn't have to wear the patch anymore and his prescription has improved. Call me if you need someone to talk to about it! Really!
